Power in Jesus = Power on the Mat

by Ashley Marshall

Stepping onto the mat, closing my eyes, respiration within the peace of the Lord. Starting to arrange my physique, thoughts, coronary heart, and soul for what the Lord has for me throughout this time. Saying a fast prayer, I start to open my eyes and transfer by way of a circulation with expectations of lightness, satisfaction, and power. As a substitute, what I’m hit with is defeat and emotions of frustration rising to the floor. This isn’t proper.

“Yoga is supposed for empowerment of the physique. Yoga is supposed for showcasing the internal power all of us have. Proper?”

These irritating questions run by way of my thoughts, heightening my sense of dissatisfaction. Then, a quiet whisper says, “NOT IN YOUR STRENGTH, BUT MINE.” And my thoughts is silenced.

Psalm 73:26: “My flesh and my coronary heart could fail, however God is the power of my coronary heart and my portion without end.” (ESV) So many occasions, we push by way of life going from one factor to the following with out stopping and pondering we are able to do all of it. We’re powerful. We’re resilient. The trustworthy fact is: we can not and we’re not. Our power is finite, it offers out. Our our bodies can not do all of it despite the fact that we attempt to push it to the acute. By nature, we’re weak creatures. Relaxation is a crucial a part of life. We’d like relaxation, however, most significantly, we’d like our infinite, loving Creator who created us to completely want and totally rely upon Him.

Paul tells us in his letter to the Corinthians, “For the sake of Christ, then, I’m content material with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I’m weak, then I’m robust.” (ESV) Paul was a disciple of Christ. He walked and talked with Him. He had a detailed and intimate relationship with Him. Regardless that Paul was a faithful follower of Christ, he was nonetheless weak. He was given a “thorn in his flesh” to remind him simply how really weak he was. When Paul begged to have it eliminated, Christ met him with an ideal response: “My grace is adequate for you, for my energy is made good in weak point.” (ESV) HIS POWER IS MADE PERFECT IN OUR WEAKNESS!

All of us expertise limitations all through our lives, similar to Paul. Like Paul, we have to really feel the enjoyment and peace that comes from these limitations and see them as good items from above. After we overcome the satisfaction deep in our hearts of needing to do all of it in our personal power and seeing our lack of power as a failure, we are able to begin to expertise it as a possibility for Jesus to maneuver in our lives. As soon as we see the great in our weak point, then our Heavenly Father will cowl us with His abounding grace and envelop us in His good power.

So, the following time we fall flat on our face on our mat whereas making an attempt the ever-elusive inversion, keep in mind the weaker we’re, the stronger we grow to be by way of Him; the One who sees us, is aware of us, and loves wholly.
